Airfreight Security Control

The EU-Regulations No. 2015/1998 regulates/determinates the control of Air Freight for export against the background of special hazards of air transport by criminal or terrorist attacks.

Generally, air freight may not be loaded without prior control, if

• Freight is not from an LBA (Luftfahrtbundesamt Germany) certified or authorized shipper (KC)
• The supply chain used to transport the goods to the Airline, is unsecure
• The goods during pre-carriage is damaged or has been opened
• Or another otherwise unsafe or manipulation can be ruled out

The substantial part of the export shipments leaves the shipper as “unsecured cargo”, since the certification is very work-intensive and therefore, for the most consignors not worth considering.

The Cargo Truck GmbH as RegB, will be pleased to carry out the prescribed security control of your exports.

We apply the following control methods:

• X-ray
• Visual check
• Hand search, if necessary
• Sniffing, additionally

For the X-ray, we employ a Smith Heimann HI SCAN 145180 2is. The packages can then be scanned exposing contours of maximal 142 x 177cm and a maximal weight of 3000kg.

In case there are problems with the evaluation, for example (eg.) “Black images, Black or Dark alarm”, other additional control steps can, and will be employed. Specialized tools will also be utilized for the opening of the packages, which will be carefully and precisely carried out, so as not to damage the package, as well as the use of an endoscope camera and explosive detection equipment (Sniffer or ETD).
We use a trace detector ITEMISER DX.

All consignments will be professionally sealed after the controls, with either steel bands, nails, screws, stretch film or stretch wrap, shrink wrap or plastic taping or strapping. Nevertheless, we always require an appropriate “Release of Liability/Disclaimer”.

After the successful completion of the control and corresponding documentation of the applied measures, your shipment reaches “secured cargo” (SPX) status and handed over to the Carrier.

You can voluntary optimize the procedure by adding a control order to the AWB from us.

All our personnel are thoroughly trained and examined by the LBA in order to carry out and monitor all these procedures.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Ferdinand Schaefer or Mr. Vladimir Zakabluk in the event that you require any further information.
